The field of web operations is one with which I am intimately familiar. For the last 15 years, I have immersed myself in this emerging field (from my Years at Sun Micro Systems, Long View Systems and Now TVO). Even now, writing a job description for a web operations specialist is nearly impossible and when I speak with colleagues about what web operations truly is, we all seem to articulate things differently.
Life Style Design
We are often told that we live in very materialistic times, that we are all greedy people. I don't think we are particularly materialistic. I think we live in a society which has simply pegged certain emotional rewards to the acquisition of material goods.
Social Media
For me the video below is a well thought out and put together dig at what I have been seeing an explosion of lately social media (Facebook, twitter, blogs). What has been concerning me most about the use of Social Media and personal branding is the “Lack of depth and authenticity”. It is what is causing so many online commentators to rant about its shallowness, lack of substance, affront to the word branding, an attack on the profession of marketing etc etc.

I am a fan of the Brant House, it is the place I go to once and a while (read twice a week). It is a good place, with great staff and a decent menu. I love the atmosphere of the crowd, particularly on a Thursday Night where the crowd and music is more my style (late Twenties, early Thirties).
Recently I read an article about a new iPhone application… Tingle …that did it’s Toronto launch party there.
